how do I choose class level?

At My Body My Pilates, our classes are divided into the following levels:

  • Fundamental → Learn at a slower pace to build solid fundamental skills, where you improve flexibility and stability, strengthen weaker muscles and endurance in order to develop balanced muscles to improve body function.

  • Beginning → Increase speed while mastering fundamental skills.

  • Intermediate → Improve coordination and balance, flow in grace and effortlessness.

  • Advanced → Achieve full control, strength, and seamless execution in grace and effortlessness.

No matter the level, Remember Joseph Pilates named his method Contrology, Precision is one of the principles. movement is medicine!

1. Fundamental Class Levels (Slower, Precise Skill Building)

Focus: Build solid foundation in core engagement, alignment, and breathing Who it's for: Beginners, those recovering from injuries, or anyone needing to refine foundational skills Key Characteristics:

  • Slower-paced movements to ensure proper technique

  • Emphasis on breath, posture, and correct muscle activation

  • Exercises performed with full control to establish good movement patterns

2. Beginning Class Level (Faster Pace to Reinforce Fundamentals)

Focus: Mastering fundamental technique while increasing speed and intensity Who it's for: Those who have solid fundamental skills and are ready to challenge their control at a faster pace Key Characteristics:

  • Faster pace not just for intensity, but to ensure fundamental skills remain intact under speed

  • Many people lose technique when moving faster, so this level reinforces control with less time to overthink movements

  • More transitions between exercises to improve flow and endurance

3. Intermediate Class Level (Increased Strength, Coordination & Endurance)

Focus: Progressing to more dynamic movements with fluidity and control Who it's for: Those with strong foundational skills who can maintain form under faster movement and greater challenge Key Characteristics:

  • More complex movement requiring strength and flexibility

  • Less external support, challenging core stability and balance

  • Increased flow between exercises

4. Advanced Class Level (Mastery, Power & Grace)

Focus: Seamless execution of complex movements in grace and effortlessness. Who it's for: Highly experienced practitioners with excellent control, endurance, and flexibility Key Characteristics:

  • Full-body coordination, flow, and high-level strength

  • Minimal external support, relying entirely on core control

  • Challenging balance, inversion, and dynamic transitions

If you are still not sure about what level you should take, please ask one of the instructors. We are always happy to help.
