The Balanced Body Movement Principles form the foundation of Balanced Body Education. They include the most important information on anatomy, assessment, biomechanics and foundational exercises (Pre- Pilates) needed to become a successful Pilates teacher, personal trainer or movement educator. The course mixes information on how the body works with basic exercises to illustrate the information in movement. The course provides a solid foundation for training in any environment, with any equipment. You will come away with a complete tool box for effectively training clients to recover from injuries, improve their general fitness and enhance their performance. Frequently Asked Questions
1.
Is a mat course required before taking a reformer course?
No. The Mat course is no longer required before the Reformer course. However, students who skip Mat often develop a less comprehensive understanding of how the body moves, because the Reformer is only one environment for exploring movement.
To help you clearly understand how and why Pilates improves body function more effectively than other fitness methods—and to support your future teaching skills—we recommend beginning with the Mat course. It provides the strongest and most supportive foundation for learning.
2.
Observation and Teaching Practice: Would it be possible to use the studio for the observation hours and teaching practice required by Balanced Body?
Yes. Observation at our studio is free, and we offer two options for teaching practice:
Option A – Studio Rental
¥2,200 per hour for Mat work
¥3,300 per hour for apparatus (Reformer, Trapeze Table/Cadillac, Chair, Barrel)
You must bring your own practice body or partner with another student.Option B – We find practice bodies for you
You are not paid; the client covers the studio rental fee.
Helen will first assess whether you are ready to work with a client independently.
If not yet ready, you will need to practice with Helen (paid), with other students, or with family/friends.
You may also use your free mentoring hours to prepare.
Balanced Body Required Hours (Each course are various)
Personal practice: 25 - 35 hours
Observation: 25 - 35 hours
Practice teaching: 35 - 100 hours
Paid Internship is available for top students who have completed Movement Principle, Mat course and reformer course minimum.
3.
Personal Sessions: Do the personal sessions required for course completion start counting only after the course begins, or can they be accumulated beforehand?
No. Personal sessions begin only after you have completed the course.
4.
Test Out Location: Where can I take Balanced Body Pilates Test Out Application?
You may apply for test out through our studio or any Balanced Body Authorized Training Center worldwide.
The test-out fee is typically USD 250–400, depending on Balanced Body’s current policies.
5.
Class Size: What is the typical student numbers for the Pilates course?
We keep our training groups intentionally small—usually 2 to 6 students.
This allows us to teach not just what the movements are, but why and how Pilates creates such profound changes in the body.
Smaller groups ensure deeper understanding and better preparation for working effectively with future clients.
6.
Financial Policies: What are the cancellation, refund, and payment policies? Are there any additional fees?
Cancellations made within 1 month of the training date are non-refundable.
Manuals are ¥10,000 per manual.
No additional hidden fees.
7.
Session Rescheduling: Can I change the session time after registering?
Yes. If unforeseen circumstances arise, please contact Helen directly to discuss rescheduling.
