Which Mirror Is Your Favorite?

Mobility - move freely, stay supported

Recently, I had an interesting conversation with a client. He had been practicing Pilates for two or three years back home, exclusively on the Reformer. The first time I met him, I asked about his Pilates practice history, as I normally do before working with a new body. From his very humble answers, I sensed that he understood Pilates principles and was able to move with precision.

After trying all the different classes we offer here, such as Tower, Chair, and OOV, he described each Pilates apparatus as a different mirror reflecting areas of his body that needed work. Sometimes, what he saw in those mirrors was quite shocking.

My favorite mirrors were the Tower and the Chair. The Tower reflected how much work I needed on my spinal articulation. The Chair showed me how different the strength was between my right and left legs.

My new favorite mirror is now Gyrokinesis®. During the teacher training, I realized that it brutally exposed all of my weaknesses, including my counting skills. It showed me how much more I can improve my spinal articulation, balance the strength between my legs, enhance my shoulder mobility and stability, and improve whole body coordination and develop a higher level of movement quality and efficiency.

I love this mirror because I can grow so much more every time I “look” into it.

What is your favorite mirror? And why?
