March is a special month in the Pilates world. It’s March Matness, a time when studios around the world honor Joseph Pilates and his original 34 Mat exercises — the foundation of the Pilates method.
True to tradition, this month we celebrate the brilliance and simplicity of the mat work. These exercises are not about force or speed, but about control, breath, precision, and deep core support — principles that remain just as relevant today as when Joseph Pilates first created them.
At My Body My Pilates, we also have our own March tradition: every March, we add the beloved Abdominal Series of Five into all classes throughout the month. It’s one of our favorite ways to honor the mat work and reconnect with the roots of Pilates — together, as a studio community.
This classic series is a powerful way to build deep core strength, coordination, and endurance — especially when practiced with proper alignment, mindful breath, and control. It’s not about rushing through it; it’s about using it to refine stability from the inside out.
This March, let’s celebrate Joseph Pilates’ legacy, strengthen the foundation that supports all movements, and enjoy this annual MBMP tradition — one mindful rep at a time.
