Pilates for Mental Health

My Body My Pilates is stepping in to support mental health in Japan through Pilates.

Japan recorded 2,100 suicides in October 2020. That is more lives claimed in that month alone than COVID-19 deaths for the whole of 2020.

Some previous studies have suggested that the economic loss due to depression ranges from 1290 billion to 3 trillion yen annually in Japan. (source: Sado M, Yamauchi K, Kawakami N et al. Cost of depression among adults in Japan in 2005. Psychiatry Clin. Neurosci. 2011; 65: 442–450.)

Classes every 2nd and 4th Friday of each month at 6pm Tokyo time.

HOW MY BODY MY PILATES SUPPORTS MENTAL HEALTH IN JAPAN

When our body is exhausted, our mind is foggy and our soul is heavy, Pilates can help us feel whole and connected again.  

 

Helen opened My Body My Pilates Tokyo studio in 2017. From day one, Helen's purpose is to help more people achieve complete wellbeing - a healthy body and mind.

 

Having recovered from personal challenges and COVID-19 with the support of therapists, friends and peers, Helen feels it is time to pay it forward.

 

My Body My Pilates is starting FREE or Donation Based Pilates Classes twice a month so that more people can benefit from Pilates and achieve a healthier mental state.

 

These Pilates Classes will focus specifically on mental health, using Pilates movements to create deep body awareness and connect the mind and soul. 

We are very thankful to our professional Pilates instructors who are volunteering their time for this cause.

When is the Pilates for Mental Health Class?

 

Time and Date

  • Classes are conducted every 2nd and 4th Friday of each month for 60 minutes at 6pm.

Where

  • At My Body My Pilates Tokyo Studio (maximum 10 guests)

  • Over Zoom (get a mat ready and log in about 10 mins before the class starts)
